Embedded Knights
Senior engineers who work inside your team.
Every Knight has shipped and run production systems they were accountable for, and they work your board, your standup and your repository.
“Do the hard thing today to make tomorrow easy.”
A day of design is worth weeks in production. We spend it, and we spend it with your engineers in the room.

What a Knight does
We know our areas of expertise.
This is the work we do for our own customers every week. A generalist agency takes any brief it is handed, which is how you end up teaching a contractor your business on your own budget.
Data engineering
Warehouses, connectors to the systems you already run, and the unstructured side most teams leave alone.
Application development
Internal applications and dashboards, shipped into your own cloud with a real release path.
AI and MCP engineering
Agent plumbing that survives production: governed access to data, model routing, and evals.
Cloud and platform
Environments, IAC, CI, and the review that stands between a branch and production.
Where the time goes
Our hours are spent on your problem.
You are buying engineering hours. It is worth knowing what a typical engagement spends them on before you buy any.
A typical engagement
- Status reporting and steering decks
- Ramping up rotating contractors
- Requirements relayed through account layers
- Rewriting the proof of concept
- Framework churn
Nightshift
- Design notes written with your engineers
- One pod of named Knights who do not rotate
- Direct access to the people building it
- Time spent scaling the proof of concept
- Boring tools and few dependencies
Who you get
There is one standard and one title.
Knight is the only engineering title we have. Nobody is billed at a rate their experience does not support, and nobody learns your business on your budget.
Senior only
Every Knight has shipped and operated production systems they were accountable for.
Named and stable
You meet the Knights before you sign, and the same people stay for the engagement.
Teachers
Half the job is leaving your engineers able to work this way without us.
Embedded
How a Knight works inside your team.
A Knight is in your repository and your standup, picking up your tickets. What does not change is who is in charge.
Yours
Your engineering manager
Sets the priorities and runs the standup. Nothing about that changes.
Yours
Your engineers
Keep shipping the roadmap they were already on.
Ours
A Knight
Your board, your standup, your tickets. Senior enough to be left with production.
backed by
Nightshift
The team that builds Radiance, AI Connect and the Semantic Router, running the same patterns on their own work.
Review by a second Knight
Every change is reviewed on our side as well as yours before it merges.
Patterns from real deployments
They arrive with the warehouse, connector and release patterns we run for everyone else.
Somewhere to escalate
A specialist inside our team the moment a problem leaves their discipline.
A replacement who is briefed
If the discipline changes, the next Knight is handed over to rather than onboarded.
How we integrate
- Your repository, your board, your on-call rotation
- Knights pair with your engineers on real tickets
- Design notes reviewed by your team
- One shared channel with no account manager in between
What stays yours
- Architecture authority and the final say
- Ownership of every line we write
- The platform, the runbooks and the practice
- The relationship with your users
We are measured on what your team can do after we leave.
Getting started
You meet the engineer before you sign.
- 01
A scoping call
Ninety minutes with the people who own the problem. You leave with a design note and a performance budget whether or not you hire us.
- 02
We name the engineer
A person, with the work they have shipped. You interview them, and if you would not hire them onto your own team then we proposed the wrong one.
- 03
The first week
They join your standup and pick up your tickets. You judge them the way you judge anyone on your team, by what landed.
- 04
Every Friday after that
Working software in your environment. The demo is the report, so there is no status deck to read instead of it.
Ninety minutes with the engineers who own it.
You will leave with a design note and a performance budget, whether or not you hire us.
